Bronx Child Trauma Support provides services to young people who have been exposed to violent crime.
The program works with children 3- to 15-years-old in the Bronx who have been a witness to, or victim of, physical abuse, sexual abuse, domestic violence, homicide, or community violence. Working inside the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, Bronx Child Trauma Support aims to promote healthy development by helping participants overcome the negative impacts of their traumatic experiences.
Katheryn Lotsos and Stephen Forrester from the New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children discuss their organization’s approach to supervised visitation. The Society's therapeutic model includes safety planning, parent education classes, special training for the professionals supervising the visits, and close collaboration with the courts.
